As far as I can figure, the cheapest 8-channel temperature logging system would be $440 for the logger, sensors, and software. Not clear if you also have to buy some network / interface to connect it to your PC.
Looks like a powerful and easy to deploy system, especially for anyone who needs to measure a lot of different things. For the hardcore DIY types, there are somewhat less expensive approaches such as 1 wire.
Their flyer came here to work. There is a possibility that I may "inherit" some wireless Trane stuff in the near future...we'll see...cheers, mfm
Dataq Instruments (www.dataq.com) sells some low cost starter kits that you may be able to use. I use their higher end equipment for general data logging in our plant and it does the job and holds up fairly well. The DI-48U is an 8 channel single ended (common ground) unit with 10 bit resolution for $50. You will need to use a PC with an available USB port. Find some low cost temperature sensors like the National Semiconductor LM34 series for inputs and a power supply.
Also NF, since I don't get on here much anymore, was wondering...you were trying to develop some type of control system, with ODR??...how did that project turn out?
Nah - I'm not doing outdoor reset. I am always tweaking my control system, though. I have a lambda sensor that I'm dying to get installed, and I've been playing with forecasting fire timing and duration based on NOAA data.
You should give ODR some thought tho....Could set up a curve to adjust water temp, which would possibly solve the other things you're trying to do.
I used the four channel analog and it worked great. The free software was excellent - has loads of otions and configurations. This product has the best bang for your buck - IMO
I was looking for some temp sensors like those. Do you know of any other bands?
