I have a Napolean NPI45 Pellet insert, with what I am able to determine through trouble-shooting,
has a bad Auger motor.

I don't wish to buy a Napolean OEM part, becasue I don't think the quality is there, and will have to replace again, in a short while.

Trying to deterine which Auger Manufacturers make the better built products? If you have any recommnedations, amd web links if possible to those Manufacturers would be helpful.

Also, if folks can recommnend any reputable suppliers for pellet stove parts, would be greatly appreciated !

Thanks,
Gopher69

Your termonology is wrong actually. The stove builder made the auger itsellf and/or subbed it out to another shop, neither is pertinent however. What you need is the drive which is the reduction gearbox and the motor unit. I suggest you use Goggle to peruse drives and/or jump on e-bay, there are a load on there. Just determine if the drive is clockwise or counter clockwise. Most auger drives are 1 rpm. Some offers on Flea-Bay are for multiple units. I'd suggest buying 2 at one time, they do wear out as all things mechanical tend to do.

Make certain you have the right rotation and rpm. Bought a "generic" drive from a local dealer, and installed it only to find out it didn't turn fast enough and the stove wouldn't come up to maximum heat. They exchanged it ok but had to order the right one for my stove.

Thank you, I didn't have that link.

Your Welcome. I replaced the factory auger motor in my Enviro Empress some years ago with a gleason avery one. The new motor is whisper quiet compared to the old one and seems to be build much better. They sell a quality unit at a good price compared to what the stealer wants for the same junk part that came with the stove.

You (as an owner) should be able to determine the rotation (by looking at the auger flighting) and speed (rpm) by consulting the owners manual or the OEM website parts lists. It usually states there what the rpm and rotation direction is. The it's just a matter of ordering the correct drive from the source of your choice.

Gleason-Avery has been around a long time. I have some of their industrial right angle drives in the shop, good stuff.

I knew all that, it was a matter of them giving me the wrong one.

Found this site last week. Lots of good info and videos

Interesting site. He's a big Flea-Bay seller of motors, and accessory parts btw. His 'tip' for reversing motor rotation is a good one so long as the field laminations can be reverserd physically and the mounting holes line up and/or the lamination terminations (spade terminals) clear the gearbox when flipped, some don't.

I bookmarked it as well.
