It's 12-14 yo Integra insert. The glass was smoking up pretty quickly, so I installed a new door gasket, and put RTV on both sides of each glass gasket. It seemed a bit better, but still had gray, black streaks in less than a day. I noticed that the top of the glass pieces were not sealed, and had no means to be sealed, so I put RTV along the top of them. NOW the glass turns uniformly white / light gray within hours. It looks like I sprayed it with that glass frosting stuff in a can. The heat output seems fine, even at well below zero. I'm thinking I should UN seal the top. Any ideas?

The top of the glass should not be sealed as that is part of your airwash system
If you are getting a dark/sooty spot in the glass, remove the cast iron panels clean the very top of the stove with a brush/vacuum.
how long have you had the stove? do you have the tech manual??

Sorry I hit wrong key I talked to someone with same stove and said if you take your side panels off there is some more spots to clean. My glass is black but my house is warm.

Thanx for your responses. I will remove the rtv tomorrow. I do have the owners manual. It really doesn't address this problem. dodge, do you mean the black sheet metal side panels?

Removing your left side panel gives you access to your combustion motor, high limit switch, left side of convection fan.
Right side gives you access to control board, combustion chamber, low limit switch and right side of convection fan.
I was referring to the baffles at the top of stove in my previous post.
When was the last time you gave a thorough cleaning?
The owners manual does say to leave the top of glass open.

I would suggest you replace your door gasket. The fact that sealed the air wash and got a lighter colored ash on your glass suggests an air leak.

Glass would be black if stove clogged.

Also suggest you read the manual carefully. There is a lot of info to help you there. Very good trouble shooting section.
