My understanding is that Jotul discontinued the model, but calling around I found a dealer who said his warehouse indicates several in stock. When I asked about if it had been discontinued because of EPA standards he said that V2 denoted that it met the most recent standards and that’s why it was still available.
Did Jotul discontinue it in spite of fact that it met standards, or is there some confusion here?

The F55v2 passes the EPA 2020 requirements. It's a good workhorse and strong heater. As for the why, it may be new testing needed or a reconfiguring. Changes in the EPA and rising costs are making the future murkier for many stoves.

Yeah if you call around there are still some F45 and F55 available. I thought for sure they were going to come out with a V3 fusion technology design but it has yet to make an appearance.

Seems like Jotul and others have been have been forced to design stoves that beat the (EPA) test in order for marketing to qualify the stove for the tax credit. That incentive (rug) has been pulled out from under their feet now. If you give a user a choice between a time-proven, simpler design that costs less to maintain but is a percentage point or 2 below the arbitrary 75% HHV threshold and one that is 2% more efficient but more complex and expensive, I think users would choose the former most of the time.

Then incentive rug’s been pulled out from under their feet because they redesigned and the government money for funding the credit went away?
Is 75% HHV the number required to qualify for the credit?

V3 Fusion would indicate a cat hybrid?

Does anyone have any insider knowledge of when those v3s are coming? Spoke to a dealer and they said they were working on it and it should have been released already. I can’t explain enough how much I love a non-cat stove. The cat tech is impressive, but nothing beats the simplicity of the non-cat. IMO.

I just spoke to my local dealer this afternoon and he said he’s expecting them soon. He didn’t give an exact date though.

I got so curious I called Jotul. The person on the phone said they’re still in testing and will be out end of this year
Maybe that means new, new design tweeks that now don't have to meet the old credit incentive.
Roller coaster of design specs for the makers and marketers.
