This is the second year since I got my Avalon Olympic and overall I really like it. The one problem I am having is with the ash pan and air leaking into the stove. It tends to happen a lot after I empty the pan. I try to get the gasket set right as I slide the pan in, but it doesn't always work and no matter where my air control valve is I am getting red hot flames shooting up through the grate. Even if I get the gasket somewhat set right there is always a little bit of air coming up through the grate until the ash pan is totally full.
I talked to my dealer about it and he suggested I put some stove caulking around the tube that the ash falls through, and I did this, but it didn't seem to help. It shouldn't be that difficult to get the ash pan set so there is no air coming through. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, any suggestions on how to fix the problem short of filling the ash pan and never emptying it? Thanks.
