Hi all, first post.

I picked up an old Coonara 800 freestanding for the shed. It’s a bit small for my shed size but it’s well insulated for an Australian shed. In good condition minus brick, seals and baffle, all general maintenance.

In making a new baffle, instead of a single plate of stainless, would there be any advantage in making it from 2 or 3 layers of 10mm (3/8”) spaced stainless to insulate? Would this improve efficiency in the fire box?

Ideally, a hotter firebox should burn cleaner. A 1" thick ceramic insulation blanket could be put on top of the baffle to help keep the fire hotter. It should have the brick in it to protect the sides and back of the stove.
