Looking for a wireless,or not, programmable thermostat. Millivolts?,with swing?. Help? Suggestions.

My suggestion is to go on-line to Home Depot and Lowes, look at their programmable thermostats and read the manuals, which are there. Look for 'swing' adjustment. If it doesn't specifically say it, it doesn't have it. I don't know about Lopi as far as millivolt goes but just about all stoves are just looking for a switch closure so millivolt would be fine. Get the simplest one and cheapest one you can find with swing. A super fancy model is just a waste of money IMHO. Turn on/ Turn off...... end of story.

Yes, I use that one on my Castile now for 4 years with no problems at all. It has the swing. I use the el-cheapo RiteTemp on the Sante Fe.

I looked at that one very nice but a little pricey and availability is spotty, I am replacing a Honeywell programable ( all days same program, 4 program periods) with a good old ritetemp 6022 that has 5-1-1 and a swing setting (the honeywell has the useless cycles per hour) got a new ritetemp 6200 on ebay for under 20 dollars. The rite temps also has a calibration feature which I like, my thermostat for the stove is on the wall behind and to the right of the stove and reads 2 deg lower than my hydronic stat in the same room but more centrally located. The ritemp also has a couple of other features like holiday alternate pgm and copy setting to another day that are useful

Just curious: Why is the swing feature important with a pellet stove? I have a wifi t-stat we use for our A/C and boiler. It has a swing option, but I don't use it much. Temp seems fairly accurate.

setting the swing to about 2 deg (defaults are usually half a degree) reduces short burns consequently reducing starts and stops which cause wear on the igniter and motors

Yep, I was going to mention that all the Honeywell's that I looked at lacked the swing option and had that goofy cycles/hour, which totally is unuseable for us. You just can't beat the Ritetemp's, unless you just have money to blow. In that case, I'll email my address!

Skytechs swing time is 2degrees set at the factory. Some are settable and some are not...However since I have a Avalon APG which is the same as yours I will copy and paste my concern that just happened and would love it if you tell me if that is what yours does...I have a skytech 1001TH-A wireless remote thermostat. There is a wireless receiver box outside the stove. I have that on "remote". I have "learned" the transmitter. I have it set to control the temp once it reaches 68degrees. So here lies my problem. The stove is set to TSTAT. There is a +- 2degrees response temp that the remote informs the stove to either stop or start. The stove will sometimes start but once it gets to 2 degrees over 68 it just keeps going (it has gone to 78 and still no response). It never lowers the flame or it never shuts off the stove. It doesnt seem to do much if anything. Should the Thermostat and pellet stove work just like a regular furnace? My home furnace goes on and off with in seconds of reaching the appropriate temp. Is this not how pellet stoves work?? HELP Or is my wireless skytech thermostat not working correctly??
UPDATE: Apparently I may have had the remote too far from the receiver?? Yesterday it started and turned off on its own. I am still skeptical and will report back any changes

If you put the receiver inside the metal enclosure, you kill the range of the transmitter/receiver link. Keep it outside for better range.
