Biobrick vs. real wood...whats the deal

Me personally i would rather burn wood it is free.

The idea with packing them is to eliminate air passages so that they burn slowly. Packed correctly, the stove should not get overheated. I burned 15 BioBricks (30 lbs.) in the Castine and it behaved well. Unfortunately they are not available locally, so I haven't been able to repeat the test in a larger, flat-bottomed stove.
