I have noticed a few times in the morning after a fresh snow that I have little black flecks on the yard or on the roof by the chimney. They are very light and fall apart when touched .
I am burning dry wood and keep the fire around 400-500 on stove and flue temp is always above 400 degrees.
Is this a sign of a problem? Should I be concerned?
thanks
Ted

Do you burn paper? I get those whenever I burn any paper.

I get the same flakes. I chalked it up to some soot and ash in the chimney and on the cap that gets going with the increased draft of starting a fresh load of wood. I have had it from the get go.

burn paper just to start the fire.
thanks for the info......no need to be concerned then
