Hello, been kinda happy with my Century Insert, but the blower seemed weak. I did a mod I learned through the reviews on Acehardware that seems to make a big difference on output.
When you take the blower assembly off, you can see the design flaw right away. There's no cowl plate around the blower box to direct the air. Essentially, it's a little fan stuck in a big opening so it's pulling hot and cold air together.
What I did was cut a blocking plate the size of the blower, then cut another hole in the middle, just where the blower output is. That way it pulls only cool air in and directs it through the opening. As soon as I turned the blower on I knew it had more kick because it blew dust everywhere. Where it used to blow a little draft just in one corner of the opening, it now blows much stronger across the whole thing. The downside is it's a little louder, especially on low.
Now, I know this is stupid, but I used cardboard! :bug: I am only testing this for a few hours while I'm in the room, and if it works will replace with sheet metal and use the cardboard as a template.
