I need to replace some crumbling bricks in my circa 2000 PE super 27. I picked up some standard 4.5 X 9's today but had troubling getting them to fit in the same space. Seems like the original bricks were 4 3/8" X 8 7/8. Do I need to get bricks straight from PE?

That's odd. PE stoves have pumice brick instead of clay firebrick. That help get and keep the firebox hotter. Not sure about the older units but I would get pumice brick. It's soft and easy to cut. You'd need to cut all down if the 9" height won't fit, but only one per side to make the 4 3/8" fit.

Yes, the originals are pumice. Don't think I can get those locally but I can look around.
