I'm getting ready to order some pumps and I see both cast iron and bronze ones offered in the TACO line. Are the bronze ones that much better or is it just hype?

Thanks

Bronze is typically used in domestic hot water and other open systems containing O2. They would be overkill for a closed system.

Bronze pumps can be used for potable water. That's why the added expense. You don't need them for HVAC.

If you have an OWF, open type, then maybe a non ferrous circ would be better. I see Grundfos now has cast stainless circs, a bit less $$ compared to bronze, and the lead issue goes away :)
