Buying door gasket for Englander

My stove is misbehaving and it's likely the gasket needs replacing.

My owner's manual doesn't mention anything about a high density gasket, but I know I've read about that on this forum.

Is this the product? It doesn't mention the density. Do I still need the cement because it's listed as self adhesive?

Nope. That one is for the glass in the door. What you need is 5/8" high density gasket. You can get it from ESW but the shipping charge is insane. Of course the ESW price plus shipping is almost exactly the HD charge for that glass gasket and "free shipping". ESW only gets $14.55 for the gasket itself.

The problem with using a lower density gasket is that the door latch just turns like a clock all the way around. Something you are dealing with already.

With the problem you have already had and now having other gasket related problems you should give Mike a call.

You should be able to get gasket at any wood stove shop. Tractor supply is where I've gotten it before. Also a lot cheaper than HD and comes with cement.

I'll run into my local stove shop today but (other than looking at their really beautiful stove selection) I hate going in there and they never know what I am talking about when I ask specific questions and then they give me "that look."

I got a gasket from TSC but it was the low density kind and of no use. I got the original from ESW. The top left of the door will let me pull a dollar bill through even with the new gasket. Anyone else have this?

The problem with Rutland gasket is that it is low density like that used by a lot of stove makers. Except ESW and a few more. Put it on a ESW stove and you can spin the door handle like a propeller. At least you could on the one 30-NC I tried it for.

For the price of 10 dollars I bought a spare just in case last time I went to TSC. I live half hour away, stove is primary heat source. Just cheap insurance to me. Oh no I sound like my dad, Lol
Thanks for the heads up BB. Last time I used it was on my ashley, worked like a charm. Watched that video in first post, maybe just not pull gasket so tight and door will be ok?

Since the stove is cold today I just checked. Still tight all the way around in the fifth season.

If there is a boiler or furnace place around there that does repairs there is a good chance they sell the gasket rope.

If the school uses boilers, ask'em who does their service.
