Can a 6" x 8" round reducer be squeezed into a 6" round x 10.5" oval?

You can see I need a better connection from the 6" tee to the oval liner. The oval liner is about 10-1/2" x 3-1/2" so, I think, that means it equals an 8" circle (someone on another post was helpful to explain that to me).

I know there are round to oval adapters but they're terribly expensive.

Can I take an inexpensive 6" round x 8" round reducer and squeeze the 8" round into an oval and hook that end up to the oval liner?

Is their any way you can measure the liner from the top where its round... It might be 6 or 7 in

I can't get inside the chimney without removing the liner. I can only see the 6" tee inside the fireplace, the 10.5" wide oval as it disappears into the damper, and the 6" round sticking above the chimney on the roof.

What I'm hoping I can do is use a 6" to 8" adapter and squish down the 8" into an oval so it will fit over this 8" oval liner. Will this work:

I've never used a reducing or enlarging adapter before so not sure if I could squeeze the 8" round into an oval shape and then connect it to this oval liner.

I personally think you need to look at redoing that entire setup.. that setup is not safe, and you need to be venting with the same size pipe as your stove outlet. .. you won't be able to ovalize the reducer but you might be able to round out the flex, but you will need to cut off at least 4 inches of it from where they notched it. Just trying to help...

Two things jump out at me in that photo: 1.) a horizontal run is supposed to rise, not fall, over a given distance; 2.) that liner is crumpled up pretty badly. Now, I'm not sure if either of the things I'm pointing out are serious or not, as I'm not a certified installer. But based on what I've read here and appearance alone, I'd question the integrity and safety of that particular setup. Please correct me if I am wrong, fellas.

Pagey, Thanks for the ideas. Those two things are what I'm trying to fix ----when I replace the downward slope, I also want to cut off that section of the oval that is squeezed around the 6" round. But, I won't have much room to work after cutting off the necessary section of oval. I may redo the entire thing all the way to the roof though-----I don't like not knowing what's inside of the chimney----for instance, I have no idea what happens after the oval stops and goes back to round somewhere up in the chimney. I see oval in the fireplace damper but I see round up on the roof so somewhere there is a connection between the two. I think they should put some kind of door on a chimney, maybe every four feet or something----a secure metal door like the one for cleaning out at the bottom.

criminy. I wouldnt burn wood again until you redid that system. In 5 seconds I saw a few things that were very bad. Save up your money and get that thing proffesionally installed as I can tell from your honest inquiry you are not qualified to do yourself. Set the thermostat in your house at 68 until then
