Can anyone identify this stove?

Just found this on Craigslist. Very min. information but looked interesting. Hoping someone will recognize it.

Can the paint be repaired?

No plate on the back? Kinda looks like a Century
 
i dont think thats a century... based on the sunburst pattern on the door (it appears to be a Vermont Casting sunburst to me), give me some pictures of the base or leggs of the unit please, this would help me to rule out alot. also do you have a pic of the handle for that door (is it chrome plated or white enamel, white enamel would dictate VC as well) I cant believe their is no metal label on it (have you looked for it everywhere (if their is any heat shields or blower shrouds look under/behind them to the combustion chamber of the unit. Why are those clips on the door so shiny new (someone restored that door recently or never used the stove). the Rottella grinding disk on that grinder tells me its more then a simple homeowners tools (only pro fabricators buy Rotella's). whats that plastic wrap pic (i cant tell wth that is, maybe my eyes aren't focusing on the photo correct LOL)

P.S. the paint is easiest thing to repair and super easy to do, so dont worry about that at all.
 
I have not seen this stove yet. Just noticed it on Craigslist last night and thought it looked interesting. I texted the owner and he replied this morning.

He said it came from the Monessen Hearth place (I believe they have a factory there) in Paris, Ky. Has never had a fire built in it, had accidently been left outside and he got it from them. He believed it is a Windsor 1500 but is going to check the sticker that is still on the side of the stove.

He said he is asking $300 firm.

Nope, that's not a VC stove.

The plastic wrapped box contains the firebrick, some stainless steel tubes and flashing.
The man is a heavy equipment mechanic that does fab work at home.
The blower has never been tested but he believes it will need to be replaced due to water damage.

The unit is small but should serve my purpose. I am to meet him tomorrow and see the insert. The last big question is it worth $300?

Plus what do I need to look for that would be a deal breaker?

I would say its worth $300 even if you have to buy a blower

I went and inspected the insert tonight and bought it for $250.00. The blower is actually in very good condition and works fine. The flashing is missing, so I will have to replace that. Otherwise it seemed to be in very good condition, the worse rust is located on the door as shown in the picture. The only other rust was a small spot near the bottom.

I am picking it up Monday and will supply pictures then.

I am really surprised it was a Dutchwest. Doug Crane was far, far closer to being correct than I thought he was.
 
Doug Crane knows his stuff. That guy's got a lot of wood stovin in his blood.

Nice deal. With a little steel wool, cleanup and paint it'll look brand new.
