You're perfectly correct about that.
 
There is NO end..

I had a stove, just pushed into the fireplace. NO CONNECTION. Burned it all year last year, the stove upstairs was the same way.


Read this forum for about an hour, bought a liner, had it put in upstairs.

Closed the fireplace damper downstairs, put a DO NOT USE note on the stove.


This forum probably saved my house, or me.
