Once my stove reaches temperature to engage the catalyst by closing the damper do I need to worry when temperature comes down and it’s still closed. In case I’m not home.

Not really, i should stay active till the very end of the burn if everything is up to snuff, Mine burns down all the time, I crank the air to it when I get home and then reload

The end of the burn does not create creosote. No need to worry. Enjoy the heat.
