Answer:
The answer is yes, it could make a decent pellet. Most all woods contain the same BTU per pound - approx 8,000. The difference in wood is mainly the density or weight per cubic foot "on the stump". Once the wood is turned to sawdust and compressed, the density can be controlled by the pressure of the machine which forms the pellet or other form.
