Need help figuring out this box. Shouldn't this end be female coming out out box? Seems like creosote would drip on outside,cause only female pipe fits inside.

Yes there is probably an adapter missing. Can you find a label on the pipe anywhere?
That is all you need. Look up the manual for that pipe and see if you can still get the part you need
