Hi. It seems like the ceiling support box should have a trim piece. Does it look missing to you?
Thanks.

I used a dura vent ceiling support box and it came with a 1"2" thick x 2" wide trim piece to go around the top of the box.

Ok I’ll try to get another picture. We still live a little ways away. Thanks.

Ceiling Support Boxes that penetrate through the ceiling should have a Trim Collar around them. Selkirk has a Round Flat Ceiling Support, and there is a square welded trim plate attached to that style.

Here is a closer picture.

Yep, it’s definitely missing the trim pieces. There should be two “U” shaped pieces that overlap to form the trim. At least for my Duravent box, that’s how it came.

I’m not sure if it was installed before the drywall went up. In new construction its best if the drywall finishers finish up to the box. They often don’t though. In that case, the installer should install trim when the stove goes in, but the trim often gets misplaced during construction. We always bring extra with us just in case.

If I remember correctly it went in after drywall was installed.

Turns out the installer need another section of pipe so he hasn’t completed the install yet. He plans to install the trim when he comes back.

Complete.
