Hi all
I was just looking for some advice and opinions on what I need to do with my chimney before installing a new liner. Iv given it a sweep but not sure if this is clean enough or needs something a bit more industrial.
Thanks in advance

Hi, I’ve made some quick adjustments to your photos and I’ve seen worse. From what is seen in your photos, IMO, there really does not appear to be sufficient creosote to cause damage to a structurally sound chimney-with proper clearances.
Chimney liners installations typically require or recommend a clean chimney to prevent the possible ignition of the creosote.
Do you plan on insulating your liner? The liner insulation I have experienced has reduced the radiated exterior temperatures significantly. I think an insulated liner is a must to retain heat and prevent creosote build up and prevent that heat from radiating away from the liner.
**As always, my opinion means nothing-you must follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions, local code, and get an inspection. I hope this helps.
