Will be buying Duratech chimney pipe and DVL stove pipe for my Ashford 30.1 install. I'm thinking I could just go galvanized chimney pipe in the attic and stainless chimney pipe where it is exposed to the elements. Is my thinking right on this?

Should be fine.

Thanks!

I did look at Supervent at Menards because the price is unbelievably good! The pipe looked fine - BUT - when I looked at the double wall pipe I was less than impressed. I've never seen the Duratech line but it seems that it gets good reviews. I'll be paying more but I'm willing to pay for quality at my advanced age. The only down fall is the lack of warranty since I'm self-installing. Seems to me that few if any warranty claims are ever made for quality stuff anyways.

I've installed my last two simpson class A chimney systems. If the parts survive shipping, they have always been very high quality. Why would you warranty a pipe? I suppose if the paint flaked off.

Failure, though rare happens. Seams fail, insulation settles, joints don't connect correctly, etc..

We only use olympia products their chimney system is ventis which is a very high quality chimney and even with that we still have a few warranty issues to deal with. Chimneys even when burnt and cleaned properly take allot of abuse and things can happen.

FYI only: I ran across this place during my research on DuraTech. Warranty to DIY.
