Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. If you want it to look at it and try it out. Good stuff doesn't last on CL.

You never know - could have inherited the saw, etc., etc., etc. - might just want quick cash. If close, best thing to do is go see the saw and really check it out. Sometimes excellent deals just show up - sometimes the deal is not so good. Cheers!

That is a fair price for one. I bought my last 310 for $200. If you get it open up the muffler some and it will run that 20" bar a lot better.

If it were an 029 I would pass, unless it was an 029 Super.

Just looked at CL here and a guy wants $520 for a near new 290 with a case and chaps... *cough*

I mean, I can get a really good 361 or 362 for that, or a 440, or... a lot of other great saws.

A good deal on the surface, but a few things make me cautious:

1. I've never known a Stihl dealer to give "the box it came in" to a customer. Is seller a dealer?
2. No pictures.
3. Sounds like seller wants to move it quickly at $200. Good condition 290 saws that have proper owner history sell for more here, yet he only has had this saw for two months? It's a $389-399 saw, new.

By posting pics here, you opened yourself up to being had. Now many people on your area know about it.

Ever been to AS? Most there (except NEWB)!know to not post saws before you buy them. A lot of people flip saws and will try and cut your throat. Sad. But true..

Hope you got it. The 290 isn't a Pro saw, but in the current condition (2 months) you could easily sell it for a little more or just run the chit out of it.

i tend to like buying things new, but i picked up an excellent condition ms 361 for $320, and comparing it to the comparable ms362 with a 20" bar, i saved more than $400 including sales tax. $699 is what they go for around here anyway.

i was just listing the box store exclusive they carry comparable to the husqvarna line... that cub cadet seems like it's priced way low for being 55cc and 20"
