I had a guy I know install the chimney pipe for my stove. Just curious to see if he did it correctly. Also, I am trying to figure out if I can put insulation against it or not? I think I am losing heat substantially right now.

Anything combustible is allowed to touch the box. The box itself keeps your clearance for you. Seal it up!

The box should be screwed into framing on all sides, it doesn't appear to be. Is there more framing that it's attached to out of view?

Sounds like he used a roof support if there's only 1 screw. Kinda scary considering its containing a fire! Are you sure this guy was skilled enough to tackle this job?
I'd be very curious to see the hole in the roof from the attic and from above.

It's just very strange that their aren't more fasteners in that box. Typically it's framed in on all sides and secured.

Some do not require framing on all sides but it absolutly needs good solid framing on 2 opposite sides and it needs to be securely attached to that framing

Dura-Tech wants fasteners on all sides of the box.

Is that dura-tech? I don't know i don't use their stuff. I do know some want it on 4 sides. I usually do it anyway even if not required so it can be sealed and finished better

The framing dimensions are 12 1/4"x 12 1/4". Screwed in from all sides. 8 screws total.

Is that class A pipe from the ceiling support up through the roof? It looks way different than the stuff I have at my place.

I believe it is. Almost everything was given to me by the local hearth shop and he said it was everything I needed, it was used stuff he did not want to sell. Here are some more pics.
