Can double wall stove pipe be closer than 6 inches if there are no combustibles? I want to box the double wall stove pipe with a clearance of 3 or 4 inches. I am trying to run a double wall stove pipe in the basement that I'm finishing. I was going to put steel studs then sheet rock around the double wall stove pipe. Last I was going to put mortar on top.

jj, is this double-wall connector pipe or double-wall class A high temp pipe?

Sheet rock with paper or paperless?

jj, we'll need a clearer picture of what is meant by double-wall pipe. The term is used for both interior connector pipe and for class A.
