Does anybody do clothes washer maintenance? I can’t remember seeing anything other than upgrading the water lines to braided stainless ones. My wife also leaves the door open.

But there is maintenance performed on dishwashers, dryers, furnaces, etc. All other big appliances get regular maintenance. Are we missing something here? Could we extend the life out years with some sort of maintenance?

This stems from a video that popped up on my feed of a hopefully extreme example.

There are cleaning tablets to use. The front load I had before we kept the door open. Also it had a filter on the bottom front. I now have a very old (17yr) top loader. I like top loaders, but this one had/has a problem leaving black marks. I thought I had cleaned it a while back, but I think it may have left more black marks again. I don't believe it's grease, just black "dirt/mold" . I plan on getting a new one next year as I am not taking it all apart to do a deep clean.

Yeah some models have a filter/trap to clean once in a while...model specific as to if it does, and where though...

Front load LG. I drain and clean the filter yearly, located bottom left side on the front. When we get a Low Water Pressure error message I clean the intake screens on the hot and cold intakes, located on the back of the washer. We’re on well water and do pickup sand, when we were on municipal water didn’t need to worry about the intake screens. Wipe down the rubber door seal inside the fold after use and leave the door open for a day or two. We also leave the soap/bleach/fabric softener drawer open and wash the soap and fabric softener compartments as needed.

Furnace is filters every 2-3 months, vacuum out the dust where I can reach yearly, clean the thermocouple yearly, check belt yearly if equipped, replace programmable thermostat batteries yearly. Every 5 years it was recommended to me to replace the thermocouple, it’s considered a wear item. My furnace guys recommendation, part is $11.00 and will eventually wear out and stop working.

Hot water tank(electric), drain yearly. I don’t check the anode but should.

No details offered on the wood stove, I’m confident you have that figured out.

I share the dish washing with my wife(no dishwasher) she by far is the highest maintenance item in my world!
