Just installed a quadrafire Castile insert in place of my existing propane insert. It seems everytime i shut down the pellet stove i get a real bad cold back draft it seems originating from the exhaust pipe. The entire stove gets cold to the touch. This is a direct vent installation out the side of my house with a down cap for the exhaust? Any ideas on what I can do?

Did you seal off the chimney if this was installed in a fireplace? My Santa Fe is a straight out exhaust with a cap, and I can get a cold stove when it is off. I call it a small price to pay for cheaper heat.. You can put a damper in the exhaust pipe. kap

How are you using the stove? Just during the day? A few hours at a time?
