Cold enough for you?

-27c with wind chill-38c love my stove

We are around -18c and -27 with wind chill near Stratford on. My stove is pumping and loves the cold. I was pushing snow yesterday and it was bone chilling cold, I could not even hold a piña colada never mind drink one!!
I burned a lot more wood in November than I did in December but january will probably make up for that.

This morning it was 10 F here in Southern Maryland, just south of D.C., right after a snow storm that only dropped 1-4 inches depending where you were but caused the area to go "bug $h!t" and snarl the interstates and local roads. Not used to it for sure. The little Jotul just couldn't keep up so i had to fire up the Summit downstairs. Last night i set the thermostat at 65 just in case. It came on this morning about 0600 but it was time to get up and feed the fires anyway. Turned the furnace down to 60 since I'll be around today to stoke the fires. Dogs are preferring it inside today and I'm dreading having to get my John Deere and bring a few bucket loads around to the back to fill up the wood bin. Stay warm....

-29C last night, warmed up nicely to -21C this morning. Overnight burn in an Elmira 1100 smoke dragon, 25C inside when I went to bed, 18C ten hours later with coals. Gonna wait till it gets warmer before I plow snow today.

6*F in North Alabama. The stove keeps common areas warm enough. The problem in the south is builders don't insulate pipes for extended single digits. We run around putting heaters under outside wall sinks and run the cold line to keep them thawed.

Sheesh, I'm not going out in this, -28C or -20F here in northern quebec, with wind as well. Both the kitchen stove and the basement Fisher are roaring, I'm going to wait a little and do some baking.

I plowed yesterday. I heated the glow plugs 20 sec. on the tractor and it still was a PITA to get started. Bit nippy on the face. Love the snow when it crackles & crunches.

No sticky buns (sorry) some pies and baking powder biscuits and maybe some cookies, peanut butter or chocolate chip. Have to wait for the kitchen wood stove to get a good hot pile of coals going. I could use the electric stove but I like baking in the wood stove, it tastes better for some reason.

Tonight is the first night I've had the blaze king sirocco 20 showing some flames! In my little house this is a rarity. Central jersey on the coast and the wind is going thru my old aluminum siding! And yes wood is dwindling much faster then I have ever seen

Been running my VC Montpelier insert full bore all day mixing cordwood and Envi 8's to keep the temperature up.

I've been trying to get my hands on a pallet of envi 8 but no luck. If all goes well, I might get some in two weeks. In the mean time, I'll be using less than optimal wood to at least supplement my oil usage.

That's about the way it would be in our old barn at that temp too. We have way too much glass, old school ceiling cans, and too thin insulation.

Well the litte john doesn't want to play so need to get the big deers out tomorrow, hate to burn diesel when gas is so cheap.
Nice to see some cold weather . Son has gone 6 hours north for snowmobiling they got 2 feet yesterday give your head a shake, don't you love winter???

Hate the cold, but fun to run the stove full bore! Always fun to hit 850-900F on the stove top and watch the bits of soot vaporize right off the glass.

-15 with windchill here. Encore still heating the whole house but it is days like this the upstairs won't get above 65-66.

Still refuse to turn on the electric baseboard heating.

I refuse to turn on the furnace to lol

I love that there are people who embrace the battle to keep the furnace from coming on. My city slicker coworkers just don't understand the motivation. It's nice to play with like minded people who do battle with thermostats.
