Collar connection

i cleaned out my stove and pipe the other day and when I was inspecting everything I noticed something. There is a small air gap, not even noticeable without shining a flashlight through it, on one side where the collar meets the stove. On the outside u can't even see it. I only noticed it when I was shining the flashlight up the flex pipe to inspect the cleaning I had done. No smoke is visible escaping during a burn. I know I'm probable being super paranoid, but should I fill the tiny air gap with furnace cement, or not even bother? I'm fairly confident the draft is not affected.

That will allow cooler air to get sucked up and dilute your draft, I would fix it right and not use cement, as the only cement that will hold up to those temps is Mill-pac. Can the pipe be pushed in more?

No it's as tight as its gonna go. Like I said, it's very small.

What is the "right way" besides furnace cement?

You said stove and pipe and collar so you had me thrown off, you are burning in an insert. So is your question about seeing light at the top of the appliance connector? Can you take a pic and highlight where you see the light so we can answer you better.

Sorry, yes an insert. And yes, light at the top of the connector. Not visible without shining a flashlight from one side to another

I would install a 15 degree elbow on that to bring it up higher if you can't pull your liner down anymore.
