We were at Saturdays game, never saw so many Yankees fans in Fenway. He did his one pinch hit for the crowd, standing applause by all.

#re2pect !

huge fan of Jeter, i tend to gravitate towards players who "do it right" another fav of mine is Mcutchen of the Pirates. great player open with the fans and the community. guys like deserve the respect they earn IMHO.

i gotta hand it to Boston, they literally outdid themselves with their "hosting" DJ's final game.

as for the game , the plan was for him to have 2 at bat's and then come out of the game, so when he got his hit (that derek said thankfully hit the right spot on the plate lol) and reached first , joe girardi was looking at him from the dugout giving a questioned look and the "cut offf" sign asking if he was ready to call it.

so he retired standing at 1st base at Fenway Park with a statium full of both yankee fans who loved him and Sox fans who hated but respected him (as the guy that killed them so many times) he took his leave.

i remember John Kruk (another guy i loved to watch)of the Phillies retiring at first base when he called it a carreer as well. pretty neat way to go out, seems that Ted Williams hit a homer in his last carreer at bat as well.

gonna miss DJ.

If all the professional sports players (particularly the NFL'ers) were more like Derek Jeter, I might even start to give a crap about pro sports.

I agree. I brought my two sons to a Boston/Yankee game when they were little. That was a big mistake. Think it showed my kids "adults can behave like idiots".
Jeter is a class act. Probably has 50,000,000,000. in the bank!

yeah. im sure he has mountains of money , the "talk" is that he would eventually end up owning a team. nobody seems to think he would want to be a coach or manager though from what i hear

We go to a few Sox games a year and we have decent seats, even at cost, they're not cheap, but the idiots that are there can really ruin a nice day at the ball park. I've seen parents leave because of the language (and phrases) being shouted by drunk idiots, and I've seen others extremely offended by what goes on.

What gets me, I'm paying good money to go there, so is everyone else that's there, where's the park security to escort these morons out of there?

We're in season ticket seats owned by a relative, most of the seats around us are season ticket holder seats as well (most sell a majority of their games on stub hub or something similar) last thing I'd ever want to have to do is explain to my uncle why his seats were revoked. It would be very ugly....
