Thanks in advance for your time and responses. This will be my primary heat, atleast for this winter. It is an app 1100-1200 sq foot home with an open floor plan on the first floor with 2 bedrooms upst. Stove to be on first floor. I live in Deleware in a 1927 built home. Some improvements have been made in insulation and windows etc. I have concerns about the rated btu's even though it says up to 2000 or 2200 sg ft. Also wondering if it has an undersized blower. Only rated for 140 cfm. Most it seems rated to heat an area this large have a blower rated up to 240-300 cfm. I understand that it is better for a unit to run at a higher setting than oversize it and have it run on low all day. Also would the logset effect rating or performance at all? Any other thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. I am hoping to purchase from AMFMENERGY. Thanks again in advance.

Thanks for the reply Bill. Should I be concerned about the output? I believe it is app 25k btu app the same as yours if I'm not mistaken.

I just bought an EP this year for my second stove. I also own a PAH that I've used for the past 2 years. The PAH has been heating our whole house (1600ft3 ranch, relatively open concept) and doing a great job. The big blower does move the heat around well. The EP on the other hand, moves significantly less volume of air with the smaller blower, but it has a much more effective heat exchanger so the air temp is about 70-80 degrees hotter then the PAH! I haven't lived through a winter yet with the EP, so I can't be certain about how it will compare when it's really cold, but so far I'd say it will do fine.
I also lived in Dover, DE for about a year so I'm familiar with the weather, and given that your temps are much higher then ours, I think the EP (or any other Englander) will do a great job for you.
Thanks for the input. I went ahead and ordered the 55 TRPEP. I had some concerns about proper sizing. Your feedback is much appreciated. Has anybody tried cutting vents to connect upstairs rooms to downstairs to aid airflow? Just a thought unsure it would work. In any event I think it will be a good longterm investment.

Yeah I just read that in another thread. I will follow up on that. I wonder where it's not against code how successful it is? I think if I did it I might try having a fan blow down to the first floor bringing cooler air downstairs.
It seems to me that the best way to circulate air floor to floor would be to help cool air upstairs to the first floor where the stove is to help the warmer air naturally move upstairs. I was thinking of having a fan facing the stove the one above pushing towards the stairs. I would also imagine that insulation between first floor and second floor wouldn't help either.

I would give things a try with just the stove running and see if nature gets the heat upstairs before you try anything. Remember, the pellet stove is a space heater, not a central heating unit.
