New to the site, and thanks for your input. HELP!
We have a Hearthstone Sante Fe (8761) gas direct vent stove that we would like to convert to woodburning.
It is free-standing, with chimney pipe exposed thus easily replaceable.
It's in a cabin, deep in the woods, and we are hoping we can convert it to wood, rather than hike it out by hand and replace it with a new stove (hike in by hand again!)
We realize conversion, if it IS possible, may be as costly as a new wood stove but may be worth it due to transport issues!
Thanks so much

What is the chimney outside? That would probably have to be replaced too, also you would need to have clearance to any combustibles which would be greater distances than a gas stove. You would probably need a larger hearth as well. Could it be done? Certainly but it is more involved than you think. You also need dry wood for a wood stove. That means the wood needs at least a year to dry and the dealers that say they have dry wood are mostly dishonest.

I strongly doubt it's possible, but verify with Hearthstone technical support.

Oh no, you don't convert a DV gas stove to a wood stove, I think we all thought you were asking to change it out to a wood stove.
The stove and chimney would be replaced to a Class A chimney install through the wall and outside. The Santa Fe stove was a really nice gas stove, the 2 foot galvy section should be painted black though. The seafoam enamel finish is very decorative too. Good luck.
