Question:
I'm considering purchasing a stove that burns corn kernels. I'm curious if anyone has had any good or bad experiences with these that they would like to share. Any advantages/disadvantages to using these stoves would be greatly appreciated. The stove that I'm considering is the Countryside multi-fuel stove which can also burn pellets.
Answer:
Max, you should consider the following:
1. Cost and availability of corn in your area...compare the prices on a BTU basis with other fuels.
2.. The manufacturer....If the manufacturer makes more than just corn stoves it might be a plus. You want to make certain that parts will be available in the future and there is a better chance of such with a multi-line maker.
3. How much electricity does it draw? Figure this into the potential cost savings.
