Inspector in our town measured our hearthpad to make sure it was
within the specs of the manual before approving the permit.

I cut a 4x8 sheet of backer board and doubled it over.
dont put it too close to the wall or cleaning will be a PITA!
I was in the process of installing it when I took this photo.
