I've been consuming every bit of information that I can over the last couple weeks about this stuff, and I'm down to 1 question.

When installing a damper block-off plate - is regular silicone acceptable, or should it be high-temp stuff?

Thanks in advance!

Go for the high temp silicone and no worries.

But only for the outside edges sealing to the fireplace walls. Do not put silicone around the liner itself. The liner temperature will vaporize the stuff.

Gotcha. If I put anything around the liner, it'll be furnace cement. Thanks!

That will also crumble over time. Stuff some rope gasket between liner and plate. (HT Hogwildz)
