I cut some dead standing pine yesterday. The moisture content was 16-18% for both trees.

I know creosote isn’t a species oriented issue but should I let this pine air dry some more before burning it in a catalyst stove? It seems a little wet in the lower part of the trunk but it didn’t go over 18% on the meter

I’ve only burned hardwoods with exception of using pine for kindling. I have access to at least 1-2 years worth of dead standing pine

Thanks

Pine is fine! Make sure you split a round of that pine a room temp and test on the fresh face, with the grain! 18 is a bit lower than most standing dead trees.

If a room temp fresh split face is below 20% MC it’s good for any stove!

Go for it!! Nothing wrong with seasoned pine!

Good for shoulder season, quick start when you need it, and burning when you are home to save the hard woods when you need them.
