I am wondering if anyone would be interested in starting a pellet Co-op.
I live in Plymouth Michigan. My options for pellets can be very slim. Although the big box stores carry pellets, it is never a brand that I want. And I do love softwood pellets, which are never available in my area.
Today I traveled 120 miles away to get a ton of Uncle Jeds Cold remedy soft wood pellets.
(my wife says I am nuts and is tottaly making fun of me for this idea)
I have two stoves and just bought my 6th ton of pellets for this winter.
So, My idea is to see if anyone else in the area has the same mental obsessioon to find the hottest burning and lowest ash pellet available. With that said,
Would anyone in my area want to go in with me to purchase a truckload of quality pellets (Uncle Jeds Cold remedy soft wood pellets). I have a friend that owns a nursery in the Plymouth area that the pellets could be unloaded at, and stored at. He would charge $10.00 per pallet to load (with a forklift) into a truck when being picked up. Pellets could be picked up a ton at a time. Pickup would only be on Saturdays. The price would still be less per ton than buying at the store.
A truckload of pellets would be 24 tons. I would be in for 7 tons. A friend of mine would be in for 4 tons. That leaves 13 tons.
We would all have to pay upfront. This last part about payment would take a level of trust that I am just not sure if Americans have any longer (or if I do....lol), But what the heck, I thought I would throw the idea out and see if anyone was interested.
Please respond to the tread if interested.
Thanks,
Tony
