I have a split level, so the heat on the main level doesn't sink down to the lower entry level. What's more, our home is LONG and the stove is on the far end away from the lower entry level. So... the idea of a very small stove that might take the edge off is appealing and I have heard tell of direct vent or power vent coal stoves that would allow me to heat the area w/o putting up a kajillion dollars worth of chimney. It's a small area, but of course, the heat goes straight upstairs. For some reason I'd rather have coal than pellets. Is there such an animal? Is the exhaust going to annoy us (since there would be another story over the lower level of the house)? Thanks!
