Decided to fabricate a high temp gasket per this video:

I did go with his 2 layer approach.(a bit thick though) Wanted a reusable gasket and one that will be resistant to the temperature.
The RTV I used is rated at 650F. Found a posting from Mike at Englander stating that temps have to be no
higher than 500F at combustion fan in order for the stoves to pass all tests. So below are the pictures of materials used and finished gasket. Will run stove this weekend as temps will be dropping.

I use this stuff. About $11 a sheet at the auto parts store. Cut it with tin snips. This will be the third year with the same gasket and I remove the blower for cleaning every ton or so.

Why on earth would you go through all that work? A bead around the joint tighten the nuts done! Repeat once a year, cost 18 cents!
Was a bit hesitant using the RTV on the bare metal flange. Did not want to have to scrape, pry etc. Also wanted to be able to start the stove immediately after cleaning. But, if the high temp stuff releases easily, then that would work fine. Would have to wait for curing.
