Question:

I am installing a woodstove connected to a new outside chimney constructed of "metalbestos" piping; does this type of chimney need to be insulated in order for the woodstove to work properly? I have received conflicting opinions as to whether I need to construct an insulated enclosure for this type of chimney.

Answer:

This chimney is well insulated as it is. It does not need to be enclosed.
