Wood around here is going for around 220-240 cord .

Not sure if the maple will really add up to 6 cords unless there is more that is not in the picture. Still if you have the means to haul it away that's a pretty good deal. 2 cords of split wood alone would be ~$400 here.
That's exactly why I wanted to get your opinion being a noob. I can't conceptualize what the worth is just looking myself and how much processing and usable stuff etc
No, not good... @$50/cord, 8 cords for $400 is GREAT. But I can't really tell from the pics if that's 8 full cords.
Very conservatively speaking:
2 split cords, haul yourself: $150 per cord = $300
4 cords in logs, cut and haul yourself: $100 per cord = $400
Total = $700; your cost $500. Thus, $200 less than even a very conservative estimate = good deal.

Do you have to load yourself? That's a big negative. Also, some of those branches in the split pile don't look like they were cut to a uniform size. I absolutely hate re-cutting wood to a standard size.
Plus that isn't 8 cords, unless there are other piles.

If you decide to make this purchase you had better make sure you are going to be allowed to do some cutting on site in order to get those big logs loaded. Unless you have some way to lift such heavy logs onto a truck you are going to have to cut them up first. You might even have to do some splitting unless you want really short splits. As others have said the wood in your photos doesn't look anywhere close to totaling 8 cords. Good luck.

JTRock there is a place in New Britain - Newington line right pass twin city plaza, selling wood. It's all split on skids and surround wrapped. I didn't buy it but I heard it is seasoned wood.

I'll answer a bit contrary. How about they give it to you for nothing with a big thank you for cleaning up their mess.
4 bush cords at best. If it was good size splits delivered it would be $325/cord around here. Generally I would clean that up and haul it away for my burning at no cost to either party (I may pay $100 for it).If your going in with friends, don't do it. Someone will be pissed cause they got more small stuff or less wood than the other guy.

Un-processed? Around here, it's $200 - $225 for split cord wood, but less than $100 per cord if you're buying rounds or logs.
The more the day wears on the more weary I get. I feel like the juice may not be worth the squeeze. I'm about 45-50 min away. Ton of processing and procuring a truck + gas

Around here maybe average $150 cord split & delivered, but before fall kicks in usually a few selling for $100-125 so this deal is looking less good to me.
Where is the 2 cords of split ash? That pile of small limbs with a few split? Looks like maybe 1/2 cord split tops and maybe a cord of small whole limbs and rounds unless there is more than the picture.
The lengths look all over the place. That entire pile of limbs might be slightly too long for most stoves, hard to tell. But that could mean every single piece needs re sawed, and then perhaps you get one correct length piece and one funky 8" piece or something. Lots of extra work and lots of waste.
Also thats a good drive, 50 minutes away thats a long round-trip. Will you be able to go up, cut the entire pile, load and haul in one trip? Or are you talking like 5 trips or something? 1hr 40 minutes x 5....
More along the lines of what I was thinking. Looks like one big mess. If it were free to whoever cleaned it up I'd be all in. But if I'm going to pay $400 for firewood, unless its a lot more than that, it better be split and preferably delivered. I'd hate to spend that much coin and have to deal with a mess still.

I would guess you would get four cords out of it. Don't pay for small stuff or the rotten stuff on the ground. Offer $200 max. I'm sure you could do better if you keep looking.
if it truly is 8 cord(I am skeptical) you better have access to one bad news truck/trailer or plan to make multiple trips and add that to your gas total.

This might make the decision for you if it is that far away you may not be allowed to transport it. Is eab in your area if not or if you will be taking it through an area that does not have it yet don't do it.

The only thing that i would want to know if it was sitting on the ground that long how much of the bottom of the pile will be good to burn, I've laid alot of logs on grass only and a year later almost a quarter is waterlogged like a sponge. And debris gathers in piles Like that and can rot stuff before it dries. I've learned the hard way with my own pile like that. Look deep into it lol.
