Dolmar PS-6100 20" chain saw - $440 Deal?

Is this a good deal at $400.00? I have been dealing with this guy for some brand new Kohler engines. He has a ware house full of brand new products that been return, minor scuffs or something small that is wrong and he has fixed.

Certainly not a bad deal, but if its history means the factory warranty isn't included then he might have a hard time getting that price. After eBay and PayPal fees, that seller cleared, at most, $350. Now this is saw is mechanically superior to a lot of other saws that would cost $400 or more; its resale value is damped by poor brand recognition. It might be a great option for you. Just keep in mind that if you buy it for more than $350, you probably won't be able to get that much back out of it if you change your mind.

It's a great saw and a great price but Jon brings up a good point about the warranty.

As for resale value and brand recognition, the Dolmar name is hit or miss depending on location. Too bad really because they are really great saws.

I read that the Dolmar brand is going to be discontinued and all saws will be sold under the Makita brand. The blue Makitas I read are going away and all new saws will become orange Makitas.
Just what I read online not sure when this is planned or how true it is. But obviously that will effect resale value as well.

The warranty is what I was worried about. He sold all of his Husqvarna saw in a few days. He can't move the Dolmar saws at all. He keeps texting me about it and dropped the price down to $400.00

That's a good deal. They are usually around $550 to $600. My father in law has a few of them. He cuts timber full time and these saws have held up good. He trades them in at about a year or year and a half.
