Doorway Fans

I have a doorway fan I got at HD. I really do not notice a huge difference. Between the pellet stoves fan blowing and the doorway fan (which is louder than the pellet stove) I really do not use it. Mainly its the noise factor. I do agree to move the cold air into the warm air for better distribution.

You will see the difference almost immediately if you reverse the flow. Put fan and beginning of hallway pointing at the stove. You will be able to feel the warm air will flow back up high over the fan. we see the temp rise in our hallway by 2 degrees per 20 mins or so. Turn it on and off as needed. You will get qutie a cold breeze in the room with the stove but usually it is so hot in there you don't mind.

My 1100sqft ranch is split down the middle with a big wall and the only way the two side can talk is through one doorway. I have a fan on the floor blowing towards the stove and a entry fan blowing away from the stove I can sometimes get the front part of my house warmer then the back part which has the stove in it.

So yup they work good if you have a big restriction to natural flow like me.

Hey, I have an Astoria pellet stove in my living room my house is 2,200sqft , I use a 2 entree fans from living room to hallway then up stairs at the end of hall and I can get my back rooms up too 70 degrees. The fans are blowing away from stove.

Take the guard off for better air flow and less noise but watch those fingers along with my burned arm from new years eve my right middle finger tip got munched in a super flow fan, stupid me!! Damn whiskey made in Canada, well better than whiskey made in China, oh ya that is a different thread, sorry..

I'm have 5 door fans working pulling air from pellet stove in living room my house is a colonial up stairs at the back of hallway is a wireless thermostat and I have gotten my 2200sqft house up too the 70's

I use 2 of these. Very quiet.
Always push the cold air towards the stove.

When you buy at HD , its like buying at Walmart. Visit a stove shop and buy a quality corner fan and you'll be happy. Sure you can save $10 but you get what you pay for.

Iust read your sig. The SF states it can accomodate 1475 sq ft. Read the fine print and you'll notice that rating is for an energystar rated home. If you don't know what that is, then your home isn't one. That is also under ideal conditions with hardwood pellets. Maybe you're a candidate for the Classic Bay 1200?

Try it both ways to see what works for you. I tried blowing the cold air along the floor from my hallway into the living room, and I didnt like it at all.. I got really cold air at about knee high level and was uncomfortable lounging in my recliner which was in the path of that cold air. I now use a fan to pull warm air from the living room down the hall and that works like a charm for me. I think a lot depends on how your house is laid out too. Mine is a conventional ranch home with hallway straight down the center from the living room where the fireplace is so I have a straight shot down the hall to the bedrooms.

I used an entreeair fan for about 5 years to help heat up my kitchen, the kitchen is over an unsealed crawlspace with 3 outside walls and only (until last fall) 9 feet of baseboard. It has 3 entrace doors and two large windows, it is 15' X 20' and it was always cold. after putting the fan in the door way blowing in from the living room the kitchen got more comfortable. these fans don't move that much air but having them on 24/7 and keeping the air moving the way you need does help. I now have about 20' of baseboard so I don't need the fan anymore.

bought 3 of those fans from HD. Put up one, ran it for a while, but very noisy. Have a small fan sat on the floor blowing from the bottom of the stairs toward the stove. Didn't notice any improvement with the corner fan on, so now I leave it off and save on electricity. The one on the floor seems to move the air best. Just don't put or run the floor fan in the pathway of where you will be seated. Can be chilly.

i use a summertime oscillating fan. i set it on the pellet tote on 1 and let it oscillate, and the whole house is warm...besides ceiling fans, one in living room pushing down, one in dining room pulling up...just my .02
