I have this insert unpacked and there is a round piece of steel that is loose that mimics the outlet size just laying below the cutout. My first instinct was to remove it but I can't get it out. It just lays on the fiberglass (or whatever that stuff is) that's on top of the baffle.
Is isn't mentioned in the manual -- what's the deal with this thing? I suppose it could act as a plate to catch creosote drippings?
Another thing --
Didn't think of this before buying the insert but how in the heck can I do an annual chimney cleaning without a lot of grief? Moving the insert out a little won't be a problem but I can see that it's going to be a tight fit from the liner/stove adapter.
Certainly you don't just brush so everything just falls back into the insert but I suppose if I clean regularly enough I may have to. ?
