On the box of duraflame logs it says not to put into an insert but also claims it burns cleaner than wood. Why can't this product go into a wood insert?

I would think that with wood stoves, the chemicals in the Duraflame log could cause some damage. Especially to a CAT stove
These products have a petroleum binder. They are meant for open fireplace burning only. They are not the same as a highly compressed sawdust product that has no binders. Northern Idaho Energy Logs, HomeFire Press-Logs, Bio Bricks, ECO bricks, Redstones, are all acceptable to burn, following instructions.
