Have a chance to buy a used Dutch West Convection Wood Stove tomorrow. Anyone have experience with these stoves? After talking with the owner I think it was a catylitic model with that part removed. Will this affect the stove in any way? Is there anything else I should be looking at? Thanks in advance.

Without the cat it is a decent anchor for a pretty big boat.

Which model is it and how old? There have been Dutchwest cat stoves around since the early '80s.

If they removed the cat they either, didn't know how to operate the stove or, they were too cheap to replace it. These stoves aren't very sought after, although it might be worth a few hundred bucks if is not too old. Keep in mind that if everything is intact, it will still cost a few hundred to replace the cat.
