Ok, I'm a Stihl guy for better or worse. It's what I like and have bought for years. I got my 360 in a milk crate end of Spring and had a buddy put it together with a new HyWay P&C kit. Used it maybe 6x before it puked the jug again :(. So the guy felt bad, probably it was set up too lean, and offered me $150 for just the power head and is going to rebuild it on his dime for his dad that has an 059 I think. I took the deal as he will get more use out of it than I ever will.
So I'm down a saw. For whatever reason (CAD) I feel the need to replace it. I have a 170, 025 and 460 for the big stuff. Looked at a 590 yesterday at my saw shop and can't stop thinking about it. So for another $250 over what I got from the MS 360 I can have a pro-grade ( that's the claim) 60 cc saw for $400 with 5 yr warranty. The shop sells the big 2 plus Echo and they are pretty high on the Echo for the price. Probably go with the 18" bar so I don't mix up the 20" chains for the Stihl. What do you guys think? I know I don't NEED it, but I want it. Any thoughts from 590 owners either way? And he said for another $10 I can, and will do, a rim sprocket

I have an Echo CS-600P. I picked it up a few months ago for 200 bucks on CL. The tensioner was shot and the guy had the chain on backwards.
I cleaned it up and put about 10.00 into it...the thing runs great. I felled and bucked a couple of 18 inch diameter trees this weekend with the Echo, easy to start and never missed a beat.
I was looking at the timberwolfs, but got lucky with CL when I ready to buy.
I have an echo pole saw and weed trimmer, they always start with no problems.
The ms-180 needed a new carb, bad gas they said...I said all my other saws had the same gas in them....and they start.
I also have a ms-180, ms-270, dolmar 421, homelite 330 and an old top handle craftsman.

I think the subtle differences between the 590 and 600 are the handle and the better bar on the 600. Maybe something else, I was reading the brochure. Same engine etc. that's a steal for that saw you got, I'll keep looking on CL until it's time to pull the trigger. I can almost buy 2 of the 590s for the price of a 362. Apples to oranges I know but I only cut >6 cord a year so it should last me

600 has a rim sprocket, 590 is spur. As you said, different bar and handle as well... pretty sure that's it. The plastic handle is plenty solid.

I have a 590, the shop I bought it from gave me a free upgrade to an Oregon 20" pro match bar. I also put the outer spike on it for a little extra help when bucking. Echo # 99988802100. According to them, it only fits the 600, but it fits the 590 just the same- sprocket cover is the same on both saws.

I've been very happy with the saw. Starts up from cold with 4 pulls every time, when it's warm, always only takes one pull.

*4 pulls from cold as long as you follow the routine: switch on, decomp pressed, choke pulled. Pull it until it burps. (usually 3 times), then push the choke in and give it one more good pull- it'll fire up. When it's warm, just turn the switch on and pull it.
