ECO 65 early model igniter upgrade.

Hello everyone, I have an early model #222 and for the day when the igniter goes, I have started to look at a replacement, not sure if the new ones have the upgrade.
Anyhow here's the pictures of the current one and the upgrade that they suggest.

Anyone has this new upgrade one and how do you find it if it's the case..

I'm wondering if somehow an igniter ONLY cannot be swap and keep the air tube????????

That would be a tough one you would have to put the ignitor in the burn pot from the bottom up and get wires back into the stove.

Actually do you know if the igniter can be remove from the tube as I was thinking of taking
the entire thing out and putting a new igniter in the tube and than putting the whole thing back as in the first picture...

You probably could not do that the air ignitor is hollow inside with a wire inside.

What you need to do is put a timer on the ignitor so once the stove is lit, it no longer needs to run and waste energy.

What you are looking for is what is known in industry as a "cartridge heater" . You should be able to pull the cartridge heater out of the tube affair and see a number stamped on it, as it is made by someone else-likely Tempco. But in reality, if it is 110 volts and you have an idea of the wattage and dimensions , there are lots of low cost substitutes out there if you start looking under cartridge heaters. Look under ignitor and add 100 percent or more to the price.

Hummm.OK and I thought it was an ignitor inside the tube and that the air from the pump
was passing between the wal of the tube and the ignitor.....
Once I take it out I'll have a better idea/view.

Oh maybe your right I assumed it was hollow, please have better look..Or someone needs to open one up.

They are a sealed stainless tube. I thought it was a wire that was getting red but it isn't. It is the end of the heater tube. So you can poke in there all you want and you won't hurt anything-no open exposed wire. The nichrome wire is wound inside the tube and I believe it is filled with a filler substance to keep it from shorting out.
