Elena first fire in its new home

First firing of CL Elena. First hour so far so hot. Now have to design hearth pad. 4.5 minutes from pushing button to fire and 8 minutes to convection fan. Very quiet on low power. Very cheap heat after spending two hours to do a proper cleaning. Will probably take a couple weeks to digest the directions for running the digital controller and remote.

Are those 'moving men' under the left side of the stove or some type of feet?

Moving men-carpet sliders. Its very heavy with the ceramic panels on. Have to figure what ceramic tile to apply to cement board yet. Heat is priority and figuring out how to run.

I will see what I call it after a week or so. Kinda wonder why and what I got for $500. Only two things I found of concern when I pulled all apart to properly clean. A degraded firepot bottom and the inspection panels never been removed for cleanings. Stove has only about 9 months use.

Sounds like someone just dumped pellets into the stove and then couldn't figure out why it wasn't working so well anymore would be my guess.

Whatever you do about that burn pot make certain you use the same metal for the entire pot or you can induce additional failures.

Not yet. The outside temps are making it hard to make holes in the siding without chipping.

I have know idea what they tried using for the firepot. I had a thread going looking for ideas on reinforcing or completly replacing the floor. I could just tig a layer of stainless over the bad area and redrill. Without the stove being used 24/7 it may not be that critical. But have to get opinion from a boiler rebuilder when I get close to the Twin Cities from an active steam engine club.

You should be able to get the metal identification for matching from the stove builder.

The thing about using two different metals is additional stress caused by different expansion coefficients.

Then a one off of a better grade might get rid of the failure you are seeing with the current pot.

The steam engine boiler re-builders can definitely help with such matters.
