End of season..do you put anything on the stove to protect it from surface rust?

My first spring with the Englander. Do you guys use a wax or oil or anything to help prevent the humidity of summer start rust?

I have zero rust on it and I'd like to keep it that way.

we use wd-40 in all of the coal stove we service i am sure you could do the same wit ha wood stove inside. I would not use it on the outside though it may effect the paint

Is the paint still in good shape? If so you should not have an issue unless there is a ton of moisture in the area the stove is in.

Honestly i would probably let it go this year and see what happens. If it gets some surface rust clean it up and repaint it the only other option is a dehumidifier

Since my stove is in the basement and I burned coal in it this winter, I had planned to brush it out and spray around some WD-40 (they have a rust preventer coating). There's a decent amount of rust in there as it's rather old and has lived in a basement all that time, I didn't want that to progress. I also planned on unhooking the pipe (it's bent up, and I'm getting a new liner anyway), closing the vent off, and putting in one of those Damp-Rid canisters. Can't hurt, huh?

Never even considered this. I have the Harman TLC 2000. All I ever did was cleaned with a brush and put bricks back in.

As long as it is in a dry area it is probably not necessary but if there is any moisture at all it can really help extend the life of the stove

The suggestions I have seen for the inside of pellet stove is a light spray of Pam. Damp rid in a container on the inside and block off venting and OAK.

I'm gonna reshoot mine with flat black automotive header paint.

Mine's the dreaded 2421 "stove of death" but it's old style potbelly and that's
why I'm posting here. First season came out well, but it has some graying.
I want it to not rust in the first place.
